Pudbrook
An area of informal open space, approximately 6.51 acres/2.636 hectares, beside the Pudbrook stream, south of Cheping Gardens, Botley. Ownership was transferred from Eastleigh Borough Council to Botley Parish Council in 2012.
The site consists of mixed woodland, small trees, and bramble together with a number of mature oak trees. The area is bounded to the south by the Pudbrook stream, the banks of which are subject to continual erosion which has affected the layout of the site over time. A steep bank on the southern boundary of the recreation ground falls away to an area of low-lying meadowland. Alongside the meadow a mown path leads eastwards towards an open area of mown grass behind bungalows at Cheping Gardens. From here a path beside the stream joins a public footpath Botley ROW 11, locally known as “Lovers Lane”, which after crossing the Pudbrook is a route to Manor Farm Country Park and the original parish church of St Bartholomew’s.
The area is accessible on foot from the High Street Recreation Ground, Cheping Gardens and the public footpath next to 1 Fouracre.
