Celebrating Thirty Years of Connection: Botley Twinning Association

Did you know that our village is proudly twinned with Saint-Jean-Brévelay, in France? Just 23 miles north of Vannes, it is part of a charming canton of eight villages nestled in the heart of South Brittany, and near to the stunning Golfe du Morbihan.

As we approach our landmark 30th anniversary in 2027, there has never been a better time to discover the opportunities the Botley Twinning Association may bring to you and your family and friends.

The heart of our Association is simple: to foster lifelong friendships and experience the authentic French way of life (as well as to get to know each other here in the Botley Parish a little better too!)

We operate on a biennial exchange every May; one year we travel to Brittany to stay in the homes of our French hosts, and the next, we reciprocate the hospitality here. You may have noticed our High Street is decorated with ribbons when our French visitors are 'in town' – a vibrant sign of the "Jumelage" spirit.

We take great care to match families based on shared interests and situations. We have never had an unsuccessful pairing and, in fact, many families meet in between our formal visits, as well as staying in touch via email, phone calls and social media too.

During the visits, we arrange a lot of group activities visiting local landmarks, as well as an opportunity to organise your own time with your 'exchange' family. We allow a lot of flexibility to sightsee and to experience fun times together.

Outside of the May exchanges, we are a social group, hosting quiz nights and garden parties. We also have our lottery draw to help fund our wonderful visits and to ensure it is an accessible opportunity for all.

Whether you are a fluent speaker or know no French at all, it doesn't matter. We invite you to join us.
