The end of an era……….
Thursday 30th January marked the end of an era at Botley Parish Council as longstanding Parish Clerk Janet Morgan left to enjoy a much-deserved retirement.
Janet spent 24 years working for the Council, overseeing many changes to the village. From the redevelopment of the Botley Centre, the challenge of keeping things running during Coronavirus, to the opening of the new community buildings at Boorley Green, Janet oversaw some mammoth challenges.
This all happened alongside attending and minuting numerous different council meetings and committees, organising countless road closures for parades and events and numerous other tasks (too many to list) that kept the Parish Council running smoothly.
Despite the fact the Janet didn’t live in the Parish her local knowledge was unrivalled, and the team will miss her (and her encyclopaedic brain) very much.
Cllr Chris Cooper, Chair of Botley Parish Council had this to say:
“I would like to thank Janet for her long service to Botley Parish Council. Janet was an oracle of information and advice, especially valuable for a new chair of the council to lean on. Thank you, Janet.
I wish her a wonderful and well-deserved retirement”.
We are very lucky that highly experienced Clerk Dave Nevin PSLCC has joined the team on a locum basis whist recruitment for a replacement takes place. Dave will ensure that the strong legacy Janet has left behind is continued as Botley continues to grow and change.
Thank you, Janet, for all you have done for the Parish and enjoy your retirement.
Janet hated photos so instead you have daffodils – flowers she was gifted by the staff to go in a engraved crystal vase they chose as a gift to say goodbye and thank you!
