Southern Water invest in Botley! 4 Projects funded thanks to our sewage campaign.

Sewage has been rising from our network during rainfall for 10 years, because licensed outflows are at capacity. New developments have exponentially increased the amount of sewage in the system that is forced out during these events. Botley Parish Council have tried to highlight the issue in the past but with limited success… UNTIL NOW!

Last year Botley Parish Council launched a campaign, led by Cllr Tom Gurd who became a parish councillor to assist colleagues and focus on sewage pollution. Enabled by local leaders Paul Holmes MP & Parish Council Chairman Cllr Chris Cooper; Tom has worked tirelessly to pull together stakeholders from Southern Water, The Environment Agency, Natural England & Local Authorities, with the aim ‘to find solutions.

Paul Holmes MP joins Cllr Chris Cooper and Cllr Tom Gurd at Botley Quay to celebrate the news.

This summer, Southern Water representatives met with Tom, Chris & Paul Holmes MP to review the action plan. Over the next week we will tell you about the works which have already been completed & the works we have scheduled.
