Big Sweep 2026 Brings Community Together in Botley

Following the success of last year’s event, Big Sweep returned in 2026—and this time, even the sunshine joined in to make it a truly memorable morning for everyone involved.

The sunshine greeted the team on their way to the start

What looks to now become an annual community clean-up initiative once again demonstrated the strength of local spirit, as residents, organisations, and businesses came together to help keep Botley looking its best.

A True Community Effort

The event saw fantastic participation from a wide range of groups, including:

  • Staff and councillors from Botley Parish Council
  • Local volunteers, including members of the Twinning Association, Hamble Valley Rotary, and U3A
  • Corporate volunteers from M Group, part of the Botley Bypass team, who also went the extra mile by arranging a road sweeper to support the clean-up effort

Working together, volunteers covered the route from Mortimer Road car park down to the village square, making a visible difference across the area.

Making a Real Impact

Participants got stuck into a variety of tasks, including:

  • Clearing debris
  • Weeding public spaces
  • Litter picking throughout the village

It was especially encouraging to see local businesses stepping out to show their support.

Support Behind the Scenes

A big thank you goes to Eastleigh Borough Council, who ensured that the large volume of collected waste was promptly removed.
